Everything worked fine. No problems with older Word and Excel Office files. Ealier this year I upgraded to Win 8 under the ‘discounted’ scheme.
Initially, Starter did not ‘migrate’ very well but the problems were resolved by MS Tech Support and Word and Excel were re-instated. However, compatibility problems trying to click-and-run older. However, since they were /43583.txt via the XL program ‘open file’ feature I learnt to live with the inconvenience. I upgraded to Win 8. Since installing the Win 8.
Word and Excel do not respond and documents are not opened via click-to-run. Application Virtualisation Client service ‘is not running’ appears.

Trying to roll-back to Win7 would be worse than a death-sentence. I downloaded the patch KB and tried to install it but the installation process informs me that it is already microsoft office starter 2010 windows 8.1 free.

I have successfully patched the install file, installed by running as administrator, and installed the latest windows update for Office in Windows 8.
